Over the weekend I decided to drop the fuel tan and clean the fuel tank before I replace the fuel pump again. Everything was straight forward until I got ready to reinstall the fuel tank straps... I am unable to get the top strap bolted because it wont reach the stud...I bent the straps a little when I was removing the fuel tank...Is there a trick to get the strap back up there or do I have to buy new straps?

The straps aren’t the problem. They used a stud and nut when they were installed and after installation they snapped the rest of the stud off. You need to get new studs or bolts to replace. I think it was m10 threading

As Blu said, you need new studs.

They just screw in. Grab them with some pliers.

Ok i'll try that. They look like a PIA to get out. Cause i had to use some strength to get the nut unbolted so I just imagine how hard the stud is going to be. Any other tips other than using pliers..Just dont want to mess up the threads on the studs

Double nut the stud and twist it out. They are loctite’d. It screws into j nuts, try not to break the clip part or they’ll free spin instead of unthreading.

I was unable to double nut it because the stud was too short..I then grab a pair of vice grips pliers and was able to remove both of them in less than 5 minutes. Thanks guys
