I wish I could do pictures. It does have a build date of 8-06, and only two sockets on the rear for harness' to plug into, only the smaller on is used in this application, which leads me to think the other is for satellite input. There is no empty socket for a subwoofer, and no obvious usb port. If it helps at all I can retrieve a part number. Thanks again.

You've got the same 6-cd headunit that is coming out of my 2007 Sport. It will take that amp connection plug in the lower left corner (when looking at the back) to power the ford factory amps or an aftermarket amp/sub if we believe the guy in the video from that other thread. I may be pulling my factory sub/amp out of my 2007 Sport and we're both in Utah, so lets keep in touch.

On the topic of Android, Touch-Screen Head Units, I decided to go one extra mile further on my current Sport than on my three previous Ebay Android experiments (all since resold). To recap, I've had:

1) Unbranded 7" Android 5.0, 1gb/8gb Touchscreen - bought used $45, no screen mirroring, 4x45watt, very basic but worked fine and would buy again. Slightly clunky settings interface but Very easy to fit in 2Din hole in a CV dash

2) 10.1" Android 9 Unbranded 10.1" Android 9 2gb/32gb Android, With gps, wifi, screen mirroring, more usb connections, back up cam. Big beautiful screen that sticks out from the dash somewhat awkwardlywas velcroed to the dash front. Noticed the speed improvement on boot up, gave me flawless service for a year $95 and would buy again but same unit is $125 now.

3) 7" Android 10.1 Unbranded 7" Android 10.1, 2gb/16gb, same features as above, $75 new to put in a car for resale, with back up cam. Perfectly fine unit, no issues.

4) This one:

9" Android head unit
Hizpo 9" Android 10, 4gb/64gb, can power amp, external mic, external wifi ant., built 4g dongle, Carplay, back-up cam, Steering Wheel control, $249.

So after three ventures in super-cheap android territory with flawless results, this time I went medium cheap in order to get a ton more features. Did I need more memory or speed? No, the bottom tier units were good enough, but their wifi antennas were poor, this one is external and can be mounted high up and not behind metal. Ditto the external mic. Carplay is a big plus, 4g dongle is a big plus, amp command is a big plus. It's not a top tier Sony or JVC unit by any means, but neither is it $1000.

And here's the really salient bit I want you to take away from this....9 INCHES IS THE SIZE SCREEN YOU WANT FOR A GOOD FIT IN OUR VICS!

It's not too big like the 10.1 or too small like the 7" units. It will mount flush over the existing Ford hole with NO TRIMMING. It's so light that a little velcro around the edge of the hole and back of the unit will hold it securely in place without being able to see the velcro. It looks natural over the hole, only a little bit of the left and right sides overlap the vents like 1/4", no more, obstructing no airflow. I'm really pleased with the look.

Pictures coming as soon as I get it mounted and working.

I'm guessing that this is the 6 cd Changer you've got.

And this is the back of it, which the slots for plugs designated.

Am I correct? My guess is that the slot I've marked as "unused" is the one they use for the SAT radio system, which is undoubtedly so obsolete that no one cares anymore.

Well, without that hole plug for the amp/subwoofer, I don't think you'll be able to use an amp/subwoofer. Radio should work without it, however. Mine does when it's unplugged.

Yeah the radio and cd player works great. I wanted to find a way to make the satellite part of it functional and maybe drop in a subwoofer. The old radio/cassette player worked fine as well, but sounded cheap. I was planning to buy new speakers right after the new deck went in but the overall sound was so vastly improved I put that on hold. I'll still do the sub but I'll need a signal processor to make that happen.

Can someone please tell me how to remove an aftermarket single din stereo in an '05?

It's the usual single din kit with the pocket.
If I remember right, it just snaps in?
Do I just grab onto it and gently pull it straight out?

I'd like to gain access to the back of the stereo to add a bluetooth mic.

There is absolutely no way we can guess at how it's mounted without at least some pictures. Most aftermarket kits come with their own, non-vehicle specific mounting plates that could be attached any old way.

But my first guess would be to pry gently top and bottom with plastic pry tools. It's probably side mounted with screw friction to make it stiff to slide out, no more. A little leverage and it'll probably start to slide.

But don't worry about breaking it. Whatever it is, it's probably not worth more than about 50 bucks.

This is the stereo I have.
I'm not quite sure the best way to remove it.

I installed it myself and seem to remember it simply snapped into place.

edit... attachment doesn't seem to be working. hmmm...

No, it's not working. Welcome to the arcane and obsolete functionality of CV.net!

In order to see it, you'll need to sign into imgur.com, upload your foto to that, copy the link over to a post here. That process usually only takes first=timers three or four fumbling attempts before they get it right. I know it took me that long to figure it out.

Did I welcome you to CV.net, yet?

That should cover all the bases. One of those links has to work chainsaw

Its an Alpine single din with a dash kit.
I installed it myself. I think it just slid in and clipped/snapped into place.
Can I just pull on it or do I need some special tool - maybe pry around the edges with a trim tool?

Congrats, now that you know how to use imgur for this board, you'll find it's quite easy and nice. Pics look great.

I removed virtually the same Alpine from my 04 Sport, only with the cubby-shroud on the bottom not the top. It just slid out, nothing was really holding it in.

Get some of those plastic pry tools from harbor freight for a few bucks and gently wedge it out, trying a little at a time. Allow its responses to be your guide as to where you pry or tug next so you don't over force it.

I've replaced many of the stock units and some after market units like this alpine with cheap unbranded Ebay android units. I've never had a single problem with any of them and the upgrade in functionality (gps, phone synch, wifi, back-up camera, etc) is so massive compared to the sub-$100 price that I'd do it, or recommend doing it for every single old vic. I've found that you really don't need to hard mount the new unit into the dash. Since our dash has them sit at a tilted angle anyway, they're not going anywhere if you just set them in and push them back.

Right now I have a lovely 9" touchscreen model that I paid a bit more than bottom barrel prices for so I could get Carplay and its own SIM card, plus a few other extras. It is only velcro'ed to the 2Din opening and hasn't budged since I mounted it.

Will this radio fit my ‘04 CV? My radio is exhibiting symptoms of a impending failure.

Take yours out and show me pics of all the connectors that are attached to the back to be sure. Odds are it'll work but if you don't have a premium sound system you won't have a subwoofer/amp plug. Of my 14 panthers, only one did. The right-hand side big plug should be the same.

Word of caution... all these OLD OEM radios are old and failure prone, the IN DASH 6 CD players are the most likely to fail, cause all those discs are nested tight in there and have to eject one after another. This came out of my 07 Sport so it was the best CD/radio Ford offered at the time, I never used it, never put a CD in it, I INSTANTLY swapped it out for an Android touchscreen. It's the ejection mechanism that fails first.

I'd sell it to you for cheap, with AS IS warnings, but I'd try to push you to upgrade to an android touchscreen if I were you. The amount of upgrades you get with the Androids is unbelievable for very little money. For about $90 on ebay you'll get a good quad core Android with GPS, mic, back-up camera and it'll fit right in the slot with very little alteration. I've had multiple 7", 9" and 10.1" cheapo Ebay unbranded units in Vics and never had a problem with any of them. Latest one is 10.1, with my entire 200 CD collection burned onto one thumbdrive connect to the unit. No more discs to scratch and choke. I'd never go back.
