There are a few very simple ground rules and truth to which all members must adhere and acknowledge. The administrative staff tries very hard to maintain a ‘family friendly’ site and message board so please keep that in mind as you read this.
Considering the "real-time" nature of this message board, it is impossible for us to review messages or confirm the validity of information posted. Please remember that we do not actively monitor the contents of and are not responsible for any messages posted. Furthermore we do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message. The messages express the views of the author of the message, not necessarily the views of this message board, administrative staff, site owners, or any entity associated with this site. We at Crownvic.net reserve the right to delete any message for any or no reason whatsoever. You remain solely responsible for the content of your messages, and you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Crownvic.net, Crownvic.net owners and administrative staff, Infopop, Inc. (the makers of the bulletin board software), and their agents with respect to any claim based upon transmission of said message(s).
Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact us immediately by e-mail. We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and we will make every effort to do so, within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary. This is a manual process, however, so please realize that we may not be able to remove or edit particular messages immediately.
Crownvic.net, its owners, and administrative staff do not condone illegal activity and request you do not post topics about activities which would or could result in incarceration. (This would include "police impersonation" and issues involving impersonating a police officer). A number of members are part of law enforcement agencies and thus have we cannot completely disallow discussions revolving around ‘police’ equipment or topics (i.e. auxiliary lighting, sirens, radio equipment, etc). We do however reserve the right to delete topics that we feel are objectionable and/or ‘cross the line’ with regards to civilians and such said equipment and activities.
You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this message board to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law. You agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or by Crownvic.net. Members who do so are warned and repeat offenders will be banned at the administrative staff's discretion. Also, the photographs, graphics and data contained in this web site are the properties of the contributors, or Crownvic.net and may not be used without expressed written consent.
We at Crownvic.net also reserve the right to reveal your identity (or whatever information we know about you) in the event of a complaint or legal action arising from any message posted by you. We do not however sell or otherwise give out email addresses or names for commercial use.
Please note that advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations are inappropriate on the message board.
· All posts must be civil, friendly, and not contain any profanity or references to profanity.
· All posts must have some point to them and some value. Internet "trolling" or "flaming" is not allowed.
· This is not a bar. You can't say whatever you like.
· Stupid, pointless topics will be moved to the "Smokin' Lounge" or deleted.
· Moderators/Administrators have a free reign here. If they don't like it, it's toast.
· Repeat offenders will be banned.
· This is a family forum - like it or not.
. Do not post "questionable" pictures or links in any forum. If the administrative staff does not like the links or posts, they will be summarily deleted without warning or explanation. This rule will be enforced rigorously.
We believe in freedom of expression, the first amendment, etc. However we are not providing the forum for that freedom. We have rules. They must be honored. If you can not accept it, please do not register or post. Many of us learn in grammar school about "free speech" and "freedom of expression," a concept stemming from the first amendment to the United States Constitution. Unfortunately, most people have never read the first amendment and fewer still understand how it applies to our rights. In a nutshell, the first amendment prohibits the US government from passing laws restricting our right to free speech. It does not restrict an organization or business from enacting and enforcing standards. This is a privately owned and operated site, not a public soapbox. You cannot say whatever you want here. If the administrative staff feels you are "crossing the line," you will be notified via email or private message and your posted message may be deleted. If you continue, you will be warned and/or banned at the discretion of the administrative staff.
It is not an easy task to define where 'the line' that shouldn't be crossed lies. The administrative staff has the difficult task of making that judgment call. Hopefully they'll make the decision that is considered 'correct' by 95% of the community, but they're human and they will occasionally make mistakes. If you feel that administrative staff is making too many mistakes, please contact us with specific details. We are not the "bad guys" and can take, and welcome, constructive criticism. You will not be banned for having a contrary view so long as it does not violate the posting guidelines set fourth here. However, do not post complaints, criticisms, or moderation questions on the forum. These posts will be deleted and no explanation will be given. We have a forum dedicated to "Site Suggestions" and all are encouraged to use it when you have a site suggestion.
Crownvic.net is a community of car owners and enthusiasts. We have always had standards in the forums and we have a strong belief in the ability of forum members to "self-regulate" to stay within the bounds of those standards. Due to a limited number of volunteer staffing, we are sometimes lax in enforcing these guidelines. We encourage members to report "questionable" posts or members to the staff. As stated before, we cannot be patrolling the site all the time nor should we be forced to. Please use your best judgment when posting and be mindful that we have people of all ages, all walks of life, creeds, religions, nationalities, etc. visiting this site, so post accordingly. We would appreciate if members would at least maintain a level equivalent to a PG-13 rating in their posts. Spirited discussions are what keeps a forum like this active but please keep it civil.
Still, we have a strong commitment to providing an environment that we consider professional and "family friendly" and we insist on adherence to our principles. Our goal is to provide the best possible environment for the majority of car enthusiasts. We want your visit to Crownvic.net to be rewarding and sincerely appreciate your patronage of forum sponsors, the site, as well as adherence to our rules. Have fun and drop us a line with any ideas for improvement or just to say "Hello!"
Happy posting and welcome to CVN!
