4K -- You can't ask them to cut up a $600 stainless mandrel-bent exhaust system to sell you the mufflers!
Grrr--- You could send the complete exhaust to a good home (mine) with no shipping, I'll drive up there for it. I'll even take it off. But honestly it'd have to be pretty darn cheap for me to do it right now. LMK if you want to do that.....

That sucks. Stay on the board. Tell mom, she better wear a seatbelt any time she gets in the car (and given her profession, you'd think she'd be a bit more diligent about such matters). You'll find another box.
Alex.

I would really like to find another box. I was so fond of that car. You would think that my Moyher would have more common sense, but oh well. Thankfully, she is alive. Broken, but alive.
I have taken some pictures of what's left of the car. I also have more pics from the autocross.

Get another box! Glad to hear your mom is ok. Chew her a new one over the lack of of a seat belt though. Quote:
She told me she was glad she was in the grunge rather than in a small car. She believes she would be dead in a small car.
Yup! if she ever gets after her "lazy" son in law for anything, remind her of her early demise had she been in that neon. LOL
Even if you don't get another box, stay with cvn. Someone has to keep us guys in line.

do you guys think I can save the car? I'd like to, but I'd need a whole lot of parts, and money to buy them.

No the car cannot be saved I just measured the frame from the same bolt of each side under the spring to the front where the frame stops: driver side is 31.5" and passenger is only 29.5". 2 inches too short Like my man said she hit a tree head on. The good news is that I may have found a 9-something with the 4.6 for about 1500. So do you think this is a good deal? Also the engine has been replaced under warranty. *Grrrrsman* says "I am not lazy, we are awaiting a new clutch to repair the red neon so that the blue neon can be fixed for grrr's mom. Also I had to replace both of my wheel bearings on my neon. I am not lazy , well maybe sometimes I am "

LOL
Grrr, That frame can be straightened. Call around to some body shops and see who has a frame machine. It should take a few hours for them to set it up but a good shop can put it right back where it bleongs. After that, a 300$ beater box would be a good idea for the doghouse, and fascia.
If you want the grill and bumper to look as nice as the ones on the grungemaster, you may end up having to buy those aftermarket. Otherwise I'll bet you can get the old girl back on the road with straight sheetmetal and frame for around 1K (including the parts car) and a little sweat.
Call around, it wont cost anything to find out.

nothing wrong with the whales. Ask greenpeace!
Seriously though, I just hate to see such a nice (beloved) box go to the scrapper.

yes i agree with good samaritan.......i have fixed worse.......remove the twisted metal and the entire front clip, and take it to a bodyshop to have the frame straightened.......the frame can also be sectioned also if it is bent too badly. 4.6 vics are nice, but they are just not the same as a box lol
