Alright, no one get pissed at me since this subject has been brought up millions and millions of times, but I just want this said 1, 2 and 3 crystal clear. I have given some thought about taking off the intake and just putting a tube there with my cone filter attached. The thing I need to know the most is that little black rubbery piece that goes into the valve cover, could a breather just go in place there, or would it be better to drill into whatever I get for tubing and just silicone around the hole with that plug back in there. What would be better to use for connecting the MAF and throttle body? PVC or flexible black tube you can get at Home Depot, I have been considering that. And lastly, I have a universal filter adapter connecting to my MAF, but I know on the MAF, its a circle, but has like a little extra oval pice on the top that the adapter doesn't cover, so I put silicone around that. I was looking for something that would fit right over that but I have not found anything yet. Any information is appreciated. Thanks.

Only advice I have is to use low volatilty silicone as to not poison your O2 sensors. Good luck with the rest of it. Would love to see pics when you are done.

Mass air cars have a "Closed" ventilation system. So all of the air entering the engine goes through the MAF. If you put a seperate breather on the valve cover, it will throw off the computer a little. It will allow un-metered air into the engine and will cause the O2 sensors to think the car is running lean. (Too much oxygen in the exhaust for the amount of air the MAF reads going into the engine) That will make the computer "richen" the mixture to compensate. Sicne you have a '95 Vic it might even turn on your CEL. (Not sure it would, but it's a possibility)

This is what I had before my '00 engine install:

You will need provisions for the IAC and the crankcase ventilation.

Attachment to the MAF and TB were two reinforced rubber sleeves. You should be able to pick up silicone tubing, or any sort of rubber tube, to make a connector. Just be sure it can take the under hood heat!

I have seen a few different eBay auctions selling cone style filters and adapters for Ford cars. One of those adapters will work better than the universal one that you have. The drawback is that no one is selling just the filter adapter.

Your pictures are deeply appreciated Ray, sob! Now I have to buy a whole new filter, but that comes with the adapter though, correct?

I'm not sure, not only does that look like the same filter, but looks like the same adapter too! I'll have to compare them tomorrow.

The picture looks like it comes with an adapter. Your right that it looks very "universal" in nature though. I'm hoping that since they list the CV specifically that the adapter would take the MAF into account

It better, if it *looks* like, or is in fact the same exact kind of adapter, the hell with that, looks like I'll have to "make" my own.

Also, Ray, what is the exact name of the plastic adapter you have for yours? If all else fails, I'll be looking into that. I went to Home Depot (sucks) and was looking for something similar to what you had, nothing what so ever. Not sure if I was looking in the wrong department or what, I was in with all the plumbing accessories.

IIRC The part I used when I made my own adapter was a "Down spout" part of some sort. It was designed for use on outside rain gutters. I'll try and stop by the local home improvement store and see if I can find one. Then I can tell you exactly what they call it.

The adapter I am using now was purchased on eBay. It was custom made from hi-density plastic for a Ranger P/U. I haven't seen the person selling them since I bought mine though.
