So back when I went on that little road trip last week in the first few minutes of driving all heard a loud bang of metal so I pull over to investigate it and find out the trunk won't stay open but itself anymore, There any way to fix this? I can't see what is broke. It's slightly annoying to have to hold it and it is more heavy that one would think.

Sounds like one of your torsion rods got knocked out of its slot. I will try to remember to get pics of my torsion rods and post them later, if you haven't figured it out by then.

I ran into this problem not too long ago. The rod snapped on the right side. I had to get it replaced. The part is about $20. It was a pain to install. It took me about 10 tries and two days before I could find the right way to put the rod back on without it snapping back at me. I still have the old one as a souvenir of all the pain it caused me.

Oh man, you have a problem with your truck not staying open. Mine opens all the time. I'll just be driving and it will pop open and then the wind will catch it and just fling it all the way open.

I looked at it yesturday while up north and one of the metal bars is broke in a few pieces so It looks like I just need to replace the bar but you won't belive how hard it has been to find any 92-97 vic's in my area in junk yards.

Plenty of '97 and older in the yards around here, it's almost impossible to find the '98+ though. Everyone is holding on to them. There's a taxi repair shop I pass that has about twenty or so totaled '98+ vics, and the CPD boneyard is full of them as well, too many to count.

I have that movie! It's so funny, I would think you may want to turn the tension down and make sure the latch is in good condition.

All my other cars were not to hard to adjust. THe vic was a bi@ch. It took two guys with a tow strap pulling on it to get it in the last slot. :shudders:
