the keypad does not work at all. does not even light up. is this the LCM or the keypad itself? it is a 00 towncar. if anyone has any ideas i would gfreatly appreciate it. thanx

Ford Parts Network sells the pad for $62. The most likely scenario is that the pad itself is bad. I think it has internal lighting controls seperate from the LCM because my recollection is that the lighting is only activated if you press it.

There is also a DDM (drivers door module) which controls the system. It has a self test, but you need the tester for the onboard communications system. See if Autozone can pull the diagnostic codes for you.
