I did a burnout tonight and after I went to look at the damage, I saw that there was only one tire mark left. I've got a locking differential and I looked at the rear end and there was a slight layer of gear oil on it, coming from where the driveshaft meets the differential, all over the mufflers. Is this an axle seal leak, or something else?

Thanks

OK.. I know "to each his own" but if you know that something you're doing could cause problems with your car... why do it?

Actually I meant I was going to go see how well I marked up the pavement and how much tread I had left.

Ya, Pinion seal. These usualy don't leak till you've knocked the pinion loose. Grab the pinon flange and see if you can move it around. This will be easier with the driveshaft off, but you should be able to do it when it is on.
