If I am accelerating hard in my 1998 Grand Marquis the power driverís seat will not move forward. Any other time the seat moves fine. Is this a safety feature to prevent the electric motor from burning out under the additional loads placed on it when accelerating? Just wondering if your cars do the same thing. Thanks

I've noticed a similar effect on other 98+ panthers when on a steep uphill grade, I suppose its to save the motor of excessive wear

perhaps. changing the topic a little now, I have an idea how one can shut your passanger side car door (front or back) without getting out of the car. Gently move forward and then slam on the brakes. The door will shut by itself. You may have to practice a few times to know exactly how fast you have to go and how hard you have to step on the brakes to shut the door with the right amount of force. Somehow your post gave me this idea.

Don't you mean drive in REVERSE and slam on the brakes?

So you are accelerating AND moving the seat forward? If that is the case, how come you are doing that? Was it just a test? just curious.

It was a test, nothing more. It's nice knowing that even when the car is topped out I can always move a little faster!
