Hey guys,

I'm working on the custom audio system for our 2000 Crown Vic (if you're unfamiliar with our project, click here: https://www.crownvic.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=performance&Number=1146657&page=2&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=365&fpart=1).

I need the measurements of the area of the trunk UNDER the rear deck, but the car is an hour away right now. Can someone measure the LWH for me? I would really appreciate it.

50 wide 21 deep 11 high.
But that was with the trunk opened, the trunk lid arms will likely need clearance room on each side.

Actually, he measured the area BETWEEN the hinge supports (that extend from the floor of the shelf to the underside of the rear cowl area)
That's 50"

There is an ADDITIONAL 6 1/2 " (about) clearance on each side of the supports (measured to the inside of the fender)

HOWEVER
THE HINGES FULLY TRAVEL TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SHELF
AND THAT TAKES UP 2" MORE ROOM ON EACH SIDE ON THE INSIDE OF THE SUPPORTS.

So unless you eliminate the hinges and their travel, you only have 46" on that shelf to work with - not 50".

You have 6+" of dead space on the outside of the support - on each side, so if you could eliminate that whole hinge assembly (including the truss supports) you'd have about 63", inside fender to inside fender.

If you're building a box OUTSIDE the trunk to be placed in it later, remember to consider the trunk opening size, too.

Is the '98 trunk the same as the 2003?
