To me the newer gauge cluser that started in 2005 is worth it alone to sell the 2004 and move onto something else. They changed the steering wheel in 05 but not the cluster , it was changed in 2006. My bad. Then I definatly wouldn't consider an 05. They seem to be the worst of everything.

Thank you to all who posted and gave great advice. I have decided to keep my 04. Looking into paint work. Not going to spend more than a 1k. I think that’s a decent amount for paint. Same color, I love the crown Vic blue. That 2004 sport that they had in blue was great, but my silver birch will probably not show as much as in defects and of course dirt. Will check with maaco

My bad. Then I definatly wouldn't consider an 05. They seem to be the worst of everything. Except that the first year of the digital odometer was the first year of bad soldering on said odometer, thru about '09, when just about all of them fail and go dim.

Interesting reading the things I never heard much about regards the 2005 CVPIs. My last police patrol car had 86,xxx when I retired and my replacement got it as he wrecked his car and was in need just before transferring into the area. Besides patrol duties, he was also tact team member, he hauled extra gear, responded to many incidents through out a 14 county division, and due to some hang-ups at our headquarters in Richmond where new cars are received from the manufacturer to be issued after outfitting to the road troops, he ran the miles up to over 168,xxx miles before getting a new car with no major issues. He said it was better than the one he wrecked was ... even before he wrecked it. It was a 2006 though.
