Just replace the compressor. They get rattly sounding (even more than normal) after a while.
Mine (a 2004 GMQ) got noisy enough to drive me batty, so I bought a replacement from JC Whitney, which was identical to the OEM unit, and it came with new rubber mounting bushings. I think it cost me about $100... but I picked it up in person at the warehouse in LaSalle, IL.
It still worked perfectly (and quietly) when I traded the car a year ago.
