My P71's trunk has two pieces of metal welded to the body.
Each metal piece has 2 threaded holes.

Does anybody know what may have been mounted there while it was in service?

My guess would be a locking weapons safe.

Possibly for one of Walter White's machine gun mounts.

I was thinking the same.

I wish they had left it. It'd be a nice place to stash any valuables and its obviously removable whenever the trunk space is needed.

I searched online for trunk safes/lock boxes, but couldn't find anything that would definitely line up to the bolt pattern.
